ENGLISH

We aim to provide your child with rich learning experiences that will develop practical skills in the use of English as well as enhance abilities to think critically about the issues that are important to us all as human beings. We recognise and celebrate the prior knowledge each students brings from their unique identity, culture and life experience, and encourage all students to bring this into the classroom to empower them in their learning.

English has its own subject specific content but it is also a way for students to develop their literacy skills. Students will receive ongoing practical instruction in reading, writing and speaking that will support their learning in all subjects.Teaching and learning throughout the year at all levels are based on central themes. Students will explore these themes through a range of literature and respond in written, visual or oral form.

Our Pathway: Mataora Ako Huarahi

The English subject is part of the Mataora Ako Huarahi pathway which also includes Science.
