The purpose of the Sports Department is to provide students of all skill levels with quality opportunities to participate in sports and physical activity. The Sports Department does this by providing various opportunities before, during and after school for students to enjoy both sports and a variety of physical activity options. Individual, team, and group achievement is honoured and celebrated at our annual Sports Prizegiving.
We like to be able to offer as many opportunities to our students as possible. The sports listed below are our main areas of interest. However, we also like to compete in; Softball, Kilikiti, Tag, Touch, Ki O Rahi, Waka Ama
Term 1: Athletics, Volleyball (Seniors), Swimming
Term 2 - Term 3: Rugby, Basketball, Football, Badminton, Netball including Premier Netball
Term 4: Volleyball (Juniors), Junior ODT Softball, Junior OTD Tag
Note: ODT = One Day Tournament
If you are able to offer coaching and/or managerial help, please contact our Sport Coordinator; sportco@kelstongirls.school.nz.
We also offer break time activities at morning tea and lunchtime. This is a great time to get a ball out from the Sport Office and have a play. Kelston Girls’ College also engages with several sport organisations to allow our students new opportunities. Equipment is available to use from the Sports Office at interval and lunchtimes.
We would like to acknowledge our sponsors WADDELL FOUNDATION and NZMA for providing sponsorship to our kura sports.
